A Level student Katie Larter has been offered a place at Oxford University to study English Literature. She has won her place at the prestigious Sommerville College and will begin her adventure in September this year. From its foundation in 1879 Somerville’s graduates have been changing the world. Former students include two prime ministers, Indira Gandhi of India and Margaret Thatcher; the only British woman, Dorothy Hodgkin, to win a Nobel Prize for science; generations of distinguished novelists, including Iris Murdoch and A.S.Byatt and pioneers in social and public service.
All the staff and students are very proud of Katie’s achievements, proving that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things.
