Business Studies

Subject Description

It is important for people in all walks of life to understand the
nature and purpose of business. Students generally find Business
dynamic and engaging to study as they develop the knowledge
and skills to analyse data, think critically about issues and make
informed decisions – these skills are needed for further study and
employment.

The A level course allows students to acquire skills, such as: how
to assemble and interpret data, how to put over your point of
view fluently, as well as develop knowledge in many areas of
business. This includes topics such as: why businesses exist, the
role of shareholders, the external environment, what managers do,
elements of marketing, the value of objectives. These are taught
through the use of case studies, investigations and activities with a
clear academic focus.

Future Destinations:

Business can lead to a career in many areas. Business
Management, International Business, Banking, Insurance, Finance,
Accounting, Administration, Retail, Leisure Services, Production
Management and many other professions.
Many students go on to Higher Education and various University
courses such as: Business and Administration, Business
Management, Retailing, Economics, Accounting and many more.
