Subject Description

Physics is exciting! It is the study of the way the world around us works;
from the constituents of the atomic nucleus to the large scale structure
of the Universe. Discoveries in Physics have been at the heart of most
advances in technology. It is an exciting, fascinating and challenging
subject which requires an enquiring mind and clear, logical thought.
Knowledge of the principles of Physics helps us to understand our
environment and rewards students with a deep understanding of the
universe. A level Physics also allows students to develop a range of
skills that are highly regarded by universities and employers. There are 3
examinations at the end of the course, with an assessment of practical
skills and competencies assessed over 2 years.

Future Destinations:

Advanced Level Physics forms a good foundation,
especially with other sciences and mathematics, for
further study and careers in many fields, for example:
Electronics; Computing Science; Aeronautical/
Automotive Engineering; General Engineering;
Medicine; Veterinary Medicine; Astronomy and many
others.
