Dear Students and Families
First of all, my deepest congratulations to the 2020 cohort – fantastic results, probably the best in our history! We will never forget our “remote” results day. We really missed seeing you face to face and celebrating with you all, and hearing all about the next stages of your journeys. It was wonderful, however, that so many of you achieved the places that you had hoped for and are looking forward so positively. I’d like to say huge “well done”, not least on your resilience during this uniquely challenging academic year.
We will be gathering to celebrate in person – but not just yet, for obvious health reasons. We will be in touch at the appropriate time with your well-deserved invitation.
However, we are also well aware that, in common with a huge number of young people across the country, we have a number of students who are unhappy with one (or more) of their grades, and are considering an appeal.
You will know that there is currently considerable confusion as to the rules and procedures on appeals – in fact Ofqual published guidance yesterday and then promptly withdrew it! Our latest information is that the new rules will be published “in due course”.
We are therefore asking any student who is considering asking for an appeal to be a little patient, as we will not be in a place to discuss appeals until Wednesday 19th August. We invite you to come into college where we will hopefully have all the details we need to start the process, and a senior member of staff will be available from 9.00am -12.00 noon.
If you have not started a conversation with your university of choice, please do so as a matter of urgency if your place is still unconfirmed.
We look forward to seeing you all soon,
With many congratulations and best wishes
